June 20, 2018

Not too much in the way of travel activities to report in on today, which is actually a nice thing to be able to say.  We decided to stay the full day and one more night here at Moon Lake all tucked in to our cozy little #12 spot.

This morning everyone else pulled out and so we had the entire lake (and surrounding area) to ourselves which meant that we could just wander around in our p.j.’s without a care.  First order of business was coffee down by the lake which was phenomenal. It was about 8:30 and the morning air was still as could be.  We were sitting in the super warm sunshine on one of the picnic tables on the sandy beach and there were birds singing their best morning song all around us.  There were three big healthy ducks out on the lake showing off their ability to dance atop the water and there were dozens of swallowtail butterflies (yes....just dozens this time) putting on a show for us right there on the sand.  We really aren’t sure what they were doing but whatever it was...they did it for a long time and so it must have been fun for them.  :-). They would fly away individually and then return to their cluster on the beach (about the size of a large dinner plate) just moments later.  Once in the cluster they would “connect” with others in their group either front to back or back to front....it didn’t seem to matter to them which way they did “it”.  We’re thinking it must have been some kind of mating thing but honestly it was the craziest mating process I’ve ever heard of!  Regardless, they appeared to be enjoying it because they kept coming back for more.

We finally left them there on the beach still doing their thing as we were ready to hunker down to some breakfast.  Remember that giant cinnamon bun we picked up in Braeburn a couple days ago?  Well, we still had half of it in the fridge and although it was way too stale to eat on its own...I figured it would make some amazing cinnamon French toast and it did!  We set up for our breakfast out on the picnic table and it was all good until half way through our breakfast when Lynda jumped up and pulled her pants down!  Thank god we were the only people here!!  Something (a large bug) had crawled up the leg of her pyjama pants and scared the pants right off her!  LOL

We’re actually not sure of the time here now (time change and different things on different clocks as there is no cell service) but think that it is about 4:30 in the afternoon.  We’ve had a very lazy day and Lynda is still in her p.j.’s. There was time to read, time to wander and sit by the lake, time to figure out our next few days, and even time for a snooze.  It is now time for tea and a game of cards so.....till next time,

I’m back......just when I thought I was done for the day....I discovered I wasn’t!  :-)

We’ve had our tea and played several hands of cards here in our private park (well, almost private - there is one other RV tonight).

This park has an old fashioned water pump and when Lynda discovered it (super close to our site) I decided I’d get to pumping and wash my hair.  So.....I heated a bucket of water to mix with another cold one and in the end had so much water that I could have had an entire shower except that might have scared the kids who are using the nearby public beach at the moment.

Now that my hair is clean again (it feels soooo good!) it’s as though my brain has been awakened too.  In fact, now that my brain has returned to function, it has just occurred to me that exactly 6 days ago right now I was on a Hop On Hop Off bus taking a tour of Toronto.  That’s just plain CRAZY!  6 days ago I was in Toronto and today I’m somewhere in the middle of nowhere Alaska having learned how to blow glass, drink a sour toe cocktail, gamble in a real life saloon, eat a cinnamon bun that was big enough for four, get a kiss from Steve, made some new friends, driven over the Top of the World, decided I DON’T want to move to Chicken, survived the Taylor highway, and camped for two days beside a perfect little mountain lake!  Jeez....life is amazing!

Now I really am done for today....night night from the land where there is no night.  :-)
